The climate change ministry has decided to develop a “Chingchi (qingqi) Rickshaw Retirement Plan” in order to reduce carbon emissions and enhance air quality in Pakistan’s cities.
According to the specifics, the ministry would develop a working paper in collaboration with private-sector specialists, which would then be shared with relevant ministries for further consideration.
“Finally, the climate change ministry and provincial departments will prepare recommendations to replace Chingchi rickshaws with electric motorcycles and vehicles,” an official said, adding, “Then finally, the climate change ministry and provincial departments will prepare recommendations to replace Chingchi rickshaws with electric motorcycles and vehicles.”
Chingchi rickshaws are powered by two-stroke engines that are simple and compact in design, inexpensive, and simple to repair, according to the statistics.
Traditional two-stroke engines, on the other hand, create large quantities of hydrocarbons in exhaust emissions—5,500 parts per million (ppm).
