In Lahore High Court, a man was arrested for remarrying without the permission of his first wife.
In December of last year, the defendant was sentenced to six months in prison and a fine of Rs 560,000 by the trial court. He did, however, flee before being apprehended.
Ghulam Rasool, who had remarried without his first wife’s permission, had proceeded to the Lahore High Court to file an appeal against the punishment, and was arrested.
The appeal against the punishment will be heard next week by a one-member panel of the Lahore High Court.
Ghulam Rasool has asked the High Court to stay his sentence pending the outcome of his appeal. The accused’s first wife had launched a remarrying suit against her husband.
