The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board has recently taken over the Monal Restaurant. The restaurant owner has been given 42 hours to evacuate the land.
On January 11, Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the Islamabad High Court ordered the closure of the Monal Restaurant located in the Margalla Hills. he decided that commercial actovities on the area of the Islamabad Hills National Park, must not be allowed at any cost.
Further, the court had ordered that the land should, once again, be handed back to the park.
The IWMB has been planning to build a Wildlife Educational Centre near Monal’s place to raise awareness about Margalla Hills National Park protection and preservation.
