President Dr Arif Alvi introduced Mr Adnan Malik, the hero of the Sialkot event, with the Tamgha-i-Shuja’at award at Aiwan-e-Sadr on 23rd March, Pakistan Day.
President Dr. Arif Alvi gave his authorization on Monday for Adnan Malik, the hero of the Sialkot event, to acquire the title of Tamgha-e-Shujaat.
The Prime minister, according to the Article 259 (2) of the Constitution, permitted for the civil award. On March 23, 2022, Adnan Malik, who tried to defend Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan citizen, from a crowd in Sialkot, would be bestowed with Tamgha-e-Shujaat.
Prime Minister Imran Khan declared that Malik Adnan could get hold of the gallantry award for his bravery in attempting to guard the Sri Lankan people from the enraged throng. In his declaration, the Prime minister said:
“On behalf of the country, I want to salute Malik Adnan’s righteous heroic qualities in seeking to secure and protect Priyantha Diyawadana from the vigilante mob in Sialkot, putting his own life in a great risk by physically trying to protect the victim,” the Prime Minister said on Twitter, adding, “We will award him Tamgha-e-Shujaat.”
The situation caused outrage on social media around the whole world about Pakistan’s minority’ rights.
