The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has recently increased the customs value of old and used computers. This includes device adapters, peripherals, and any other add-ons that the computers can come with.
For the sole purpose of assessing duties and taxes, the minimum customs values for all used computers have been set. However, this will eventually damage the computer industry’s business. As a result, the computer industry was adamant in opposing this valuation ruling because it would have a negative impact on the business side of things and make it more difficult for students to pursue education at home.
This further complicates matters for working people, as most businesses have adopted a work-from-home strategy in these unprecedented times.
Furthermore, this has a negative impact on an importer’s business because they rely on these used devices to make money and run their businesses. All products and goods involving fluctuations in value in exporting countries had to be observed, according to the Directorate General’s ruling number 1519 of the year 2021.
