Confiz, a leader in the tech industry, offers its employees Udemy courses to enhance learning and personal development. Confiz chose Udemy, an online, on-demand educational platform, to provide valuable learning opportunities and to serve as a tool for professional and personal growth for remote and in-office employees.
The company kickstarted this initiative back in February 2021, acquiring 10 Udemy accounts, and has expanded to over 70 accounts in 2022. Last year, over 450 Confiz employees utilized Udemy courses to enhance their industry knowledge and develop their skill set.
Sundus Shahid, Software Engineer at Confiz, said, “I had a great experience learning about different technologies and frameworks through Udemy! I like that we can choose courses of different levels and durations depending on our needs. I am grateful to Confiz for making knowledge available at our fingertips.”
Everyone is encouraged to use these Udemy courses, from directors to interns. While explaining how Confiz uses Udemy for purposeful learning, Mahnoor Imtiaz, Training and Development Executive at Confiz, said, “We have created learning paths for tech competencies. So, if an employee wants to learn a particular technology like Machine Learning, Java, React, or Data Engineering we offer them a complete pathway comprised of a mix of different courses that they can follow to achieve their goal.”
While speaking on the need for such a step, Mahnoor elaborated, “In today’s world where skills are
outdated every 3-5 months, companies must offer the best learning and development programs to keep employees engaged and productive. Therefore, Confiz reinvented its Learning and Development programs to reverse this trend and incorporate consumer-first learning opportunities.”
With Udemy, Confiz has also created a strategic roadmap to help employees strengthen their soft skills. As part of the monthly performance reviews, managers can suggest relevant courses they feel can enhance their team’s capabilities. Based on that performance feedback, the training department conducts a “Training Needs Analysis” through which the necessary courses are shortlisted, and team members are offered courses specifically curated for them.
While explaining the vision behind the initiative, Hussain Ahmad Khan, Senior Director of Engineering at Confiz, said, ” We believe that any tech firm is as good as its talent, and that’s why we at Confiz prioritize skill development for all of our engineering talents by bringing top learning platforms – like Udemy – to their desktops, enabling them to learn most effectively. In addition, it helps our engineers keep up with technological evolution that is advancing at a neck-breaking pace, ensuring they have all the tools available to make them successful for their current needs and preparing them for the future as well.”
Aside from technical skills, employees can also take courses on emotional intelligence and stress management, along with activities they are interested in, like cooking, yoga, and more. With this initiative, Confiz has set the stage for more developments that will improve employee wellbeing and help them grow in their careers
