Tuesday, the federal cabinet approved price cuts off up to 30% on 20 vital medications, according to sources.
The choice was made during a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad that was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The cabinet was informed that the previous administration increased drug prices by up to 700% while in office.
Abdul Qadir Patel, the minister of health, declared that the cabinet had also agreed to set pricing for 54 new medications. According to him, the treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases is tied to these medications.
According to him, the administration’s primary goal is to make sure that medicines are available. “The existing government is committed to delivering relief to the people through appropriate measures,” he said.
