The Bureau of Emigrants and Overseas Employment (BEOE) reports that Pakistan exported 832,339 workers in 2022, a marginal rise of less than 1% from 2021. The largest number ever recorded was 946,571 in 2015, making this the second-highest tally ever.
The primary causes of the steady increase in manpower exports since 2021 include a large number of workers who returned home during the COVID-19 pandemic and found work there; workers who were unable to travel to foreign countries and found work there; and more employment opportunities in GCC nations, particularly in Dubai and Qatar for the Dubai Expo and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Given the dearth of employment chances in both the public and private sectors, many Pakistanis may have migrated abroad in search of better career opportunities. This notion cannot be entirely ignored.
