Alsons Group in Pakistan has developed a sophisticated respiratory system called the ‘Alnno-Ventura HFNO.’
The locally built system was unveiled at an event hosted by Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, the Minister of Science and Technology. Several high-ranking government officials, senior medical experts, and foreign dignitaries attended the event.
The Alnno-Ventura HFNO, manufactured under license from the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering in the UK, was built according to the UCL Ventura model.
The UCL Ventura was developed in a collaboration between the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering, UCL Mechanical Engineering, the UCL Hospital, and Mercedes-AMG.
In addition, it is the first of its kind to be licensed by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) for medical use.
The chairman of the Alsons Party, AR Allana, said that he is grateful for the ministry’s support and urged the government to continue supporting the industry in order for it to prosper further.
He added, “The government can also help to create favorable conditions for medical device exports, giving the country’s much-needed foreign income.”
A high-tech electro-mechanical ventilator called the AlnnoVent is also being developed by the Alsons Company. Output is in its final phases and is currently being evaluated by the Engineering Council of Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry concluded that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistan had been very successful and remarked that Pakistan had initially lagged behind in terms of equipment and that there had been a massive shortage of basic PPE, but solutions had been provided by the local industries and that Pakistan is now manufacturing its own ventilators.
