Pakistan Records the Highest Monthly Exports in the Last 10 Years

According to provisional estimates from the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan’s exports increased to $2.345 billion in March 2021, said Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment on Thursday.

“According to preliminary estimates, Ministry of Commerce is pleased to share that our exports increased to USD 2.345 billion in March 2021. This reflects a 13.4 percent rise from February 2021. It’s the highest monthly total in the last ten years,” he tweeted.

He also stated that this is the first time since 2011 that the country’s exports have exceeded $2 billion for six months in a row. He pointed out that the 29.3 percent increase in exports from March 2019 to March 2020 should not be taken into account because it is misleading because there was a lockdown last year.

As per Dawood, this growth is attributed to a rise in raw material imports as well as wheat, sugar, and cotton imports.
