The Supreme Court has given its verdict in the case of delay in the elections to the provincial assemblies. The Supreme Court set aside the Election Commission’s march 22 decision to hold elections on October 8.

The Supreme Court reinstated the election schedule with minor changes. Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday reserved its verdict on a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the Election Commission’s decision to delay elections to provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Monday, a three-member bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Ijazul Ahsan reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments of the government, PTI and ECP.
