On Saturday, the Indian government declined to set up special trains for Sikh pilgrims going to Pakistan for the celebration of Baisakhi.
The president of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sardar Ameer Singh, stated that last year, buses were used to transport Indian pilgrims from the joint post to the border at Wagah. They were transported to Nankana Sahib by special trains after crossing the border. The Sikh pilgrims encountered numerous challenges, he continued.
He advised Indian pilgrims to raise this crucial matter with their government so that trains might be deployed from Wagah to Attari, easing the Sikh pilgrims’ travel time and providing them with more comfort.
On April 9, the pilgrims will arrive in Pakistan, and on April 18, they will depart for India.
The main Baisakhi celebration will take place at Gurdwara Panja Sahib Hasan Abdal on April 14.
