Japan’s ispace Aims to Make History with First Successful Private Moon Landing

On Tuesday, a Japanese corporation plans to send an unmanned probe to the Moon.

The Hakuto-R M1 mission, if it is successful, will be the first private company to land on the moon.

At 1740 BST (1640 GMT), the spacecraft is anticipated to touch land.

The CEO of the firm, Takeshi Hakamada, told BBC News that he believed that the journey would be the first of many commercial operations.

I think this is a significant development, he remarked. This will increase the potential for future lunar exploration by other private firms and even tiny nations.

Only the US, Russia, and China have accomplished a successful Moon landing.
