Traffic police in Lahore have discovered that 2,354 vehicles are registered under the name of one citizen, Muhammad Usman, with thousands of unpaid traffic fines linked to the vehicles.
The case came to light during a routine checking operation on Hall Road, where officers stopped a motorcycle over a suspected tampered number plate. A check of its registration details revealed the unusually large number of vehicles linked to the same person.
According to reports, the vehicles had accumulated 2,813 electronic traffic challans worth Rs 2,866,900, or around Rs 28.7 lakh.
Police impounded the motorcycle and moved it to Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has also been contacted to help trace the vehicle’s actual owner.
Authorities have not yet explained how so many vehicles came to be registered under one name or confirmed whether the named citizen owns them all.
Following the discovery, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi ordered stricter checks against altered number plates and other registration violations. The case has raised concerns about vehicle ownership records and the need for proper verification.
