In Boston, Massachusetts, a newborn girl’s brain underwent successful surgery while still inside her mother. The baby girl was delivered, and she has since fully recovered.
CNN said that American surgeons used a sophisticated and cutting-edge technique to operate on the baby’s brain while it was still within the mother’s womb before birth.
‘Utero Surgery’ is the term used to describe the procedure performed on the developing child inside the mother.
The infant girl had a condition called Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM), which is a very dangerous issue with blood circulation to the brain and results in the baby’s lungs and heart being damaged, according to research reported in the medical journal Stroke. Blood does not flow properly, which affects other organs as well as the brain.
However, when the doctors learned that the infant had this issue prior to birth, they prepared an operation using a cutting-edge technique rather than making a cut on the mother’s stomach.
This kind of treatment involves inserting tiny needles into the mother’s abdomen and moving them around with a wire or other needle. Brain nerves of the youngster were treated.
Denver Coleman, who was born on March 17 of this year weighing 4 pounds, was the result of a successful surgery.
