Usman Buzdar, Punjab Chief Minister, has inaugurated the e-Abiana system, a digital platform for collecting water to help farmers, putting an end to the century-old water payment collection system.
Usman Buzdar, the Punjab chief minister, was present at the inauguration of the e-Abiana (water tax) billing system at 90 Shahrea Quaid-e-Azam. After the implementation of the e-Abiana billing system, he declared that the century-old system for collecting water taxes has come to an end.
He explained that the e-Abiana system was first implemented in the Canal Divisions of Khanwa, Layyah, Kasur, and Sheikhupura, and that it would be phased in throughout the province. Farmers will be given computerized water cess bills under the new scheme, which will eliminate farmer abuse and corruption.
It is important to note that the new system would ensure prompt water payments as well as financial support for maintaining the canal system.
