Afghanistan and Nepal have also given Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the go-ahead for the hybrid concept of the Asia Cup 2023, following Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The boards of Afghanistan and Nepal have agreed, according to sources, to hold the first leg of the Asia Cup in Pakistan. Through email, both boards have acknowledged their attendance at the Asia Cup games in Pakistan.
Dubai has reportedly been named PCB’s chosen neutral site for the hybrid model. Another hybrid model predicts that if Dubai hosts the second leg of the Asia Cup, PCB will receive a portion of the gate receipts.
The PCB will, however, incur losses if the neutral site is anywhere other than the UAE.
The successful hosting of the Asia Cup and the nation’s participation in this year’s ODI World Cup are both threatened by the crisis, PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi had urged.
