Two Major Cities of Pakistan are the Cheapest Cities in the World for Immigrants

Islamabad, the federal capital, and Karachi have been named the most affordable cities for immigrants. Hong Kong was named the most expensive city in the world for immigrants in Mercer’s annual survey.

Singapore was declared the second most expensive city after Hong Kong, with the Swiss city of Zurich in third place, the Swiss cities of Geneva and Basel in fourth and fifth places, and New York in sixth place.

Islamabad (first) and Karachi (second) were the cheapest cities in the world for expats in this survey, which compared the prices of 200 goods in more than 400 cities around the world, with Havana, Cuba, coming in third.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, came in fourth, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, came in fifth, and Windhoek, Namibia, came in sixth. According to the survey report, the personal income rate in 2023 has been impacted by tight monetary policies and financial decisions around the world, while unemployment has increased.

According to the report, while the inflation rate has not reached its peak, Russia’s attack on Ukraine, as well as constant changes in the inflation rate and exchange rate, have had a negative impact on immigrants’ salaries and savings.

According to the survey, Dubai will be the 18th most expensive city for expats this year, up from 31st last year, with the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah ranking 85th and 101st.
