The wait for the JAECOO J5 EV is nearly over. The official ex-factory pricing for Pakistan’s first locally assembled EV – the Jaecoo J5, is all set to be revealed on 6th November. Unveiled at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) at Expo Centre Lahore in September, the electric SUV has been one of the most closely followed new energy launches of the year, and its price reveal is the last piece of the puzzle for Pakistani buyers.
Pakistan’s first locally assembled EV
The J5 EV is being assembled in CKD form at NexGen Auto’s Faisalabad plant, from where the J5 HEV and the JAECOO J7 PHEV have already crossed 15,000 units line-off last month. The first EV unit rolled off the line in October, and the car has been described in local media as the first battery electric vehicle assembled in Pakistan. That matters for buyers: local assembly supports availability, spare parts and after-sales service, and the first of its kind opportunity to finance an EV from institutions like banks.
It also builds on the foundation laid since OMODA & JAECOO arrived on 1 August 2025 at Expo Centre Lahore with a USD 100 million investment. The brands passed 10,000 customer deliveries in their first year and have recently celebrated 15,000 units, helped by Nishat Group’s market strength and customer service.
An Attractive Price Point?
For electric vehicles, price is only part of the decision. Buyers in Pakistan will weigh the range for intercity trips, the availability of charging, the cost per kilometre against petrol, and above all the confidence that the car will be supported for years. The J5 EV answers several of these at once: a claimed range that covers daily city driving and many intercity runs on a single charge, fast DC charging for longer trips, home charging, and a battery warranty that runs eight years.
The J5 EV is also designed for how Pakistani families use their cars: a spacious cabin with rear air vents and charging ports, a panoramic roof, ventilated seats for hot summers and a 540-degree camera that helps in crowded markets and tight parking. The 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load feature adds something unusual: the car can power appliances or equipment, which is attractive in a country where load-shedding is still a concern for many households.
The Nishat Group advantage
Behind the product stands one of Pakistan’s strongest business groups, with interests across textiles, cement, banking, insurance, power and agriculture. NexGen Auto has used that strength to build a dealership network, local assembly and a service organisation around OMODA & JAECOO. For a customer considering an electric car for the first time, that backing is a major reassurance.
