Dollar Crashed to Rs. 186 Against Pakistani Rupee?

Late Tuesday night, a technical issue on Google Search displayed a significant drop in the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Pakistani rupee, causing confusion among people. The rate showed the US dollar at Rs186.73, which was much lower than the recent rates. However, it was soon discovered that the sudden decline was due to a glitch on the search engine’s website.

On June 6, in the interbank market, the Pakistani rupee closed at 286.56 against the US dollar, while it remained above Rs300 in the open market.

Once the glitch was identified, it was promptly fixed, and the rates returned to Rs286.72. This isn’t the first time such a glitch has occurred on the world’s largest search engine, as similar incidents have happened in the past, causing a temporary decline in the displayed dollar rates.

In July of the previous year, the rates had dropped to Rs207.10, despite the State Bank of Pakistan reporting different rates. As per the central bank, the rupee had closed at 236.02 against the US dollar in the interbank market.
