In a shocking event in Michigan, USA, a 10-year-old child was taken into custody by the Michigan State Police after allegedly stealing a car and leading them on a high-speed chase on the highway. International media reports that the stolen vehicle, a 2017 SUV, was successfully recovered with the help of OnStar, a car insurance company.
The child, identified as the driver, refused to stop when the police tried to pull over the car. However, OnStar was able to remotely disable the vehicle, ending the chase safely. The child was apprehended and briefly held at a detention center but has since been released. No injuries were reported.
The child claimed to have taken the car to meet his mother in Detroit, and now faces charges including unlawfully driving away a vehicle and fleeing from the police.
