Upto 400mm of Rain Expected in Sindh as Cyclone Biparjoy Intensifies

The cyclone above Arabian sea ‘Biparjoy’ keeps on aggravating, producing a major threat to the nearby areas. According to the Meteorological Department, around 300 – 400mm of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Thatta, Mirpur Khas, Badin, and Sajawal.

Chief Minister Sindh has announced that around 50,000 people situated in the villages of Keti Bandar, Jati, and Shah Bandar will be evacuated to avoid any danger to life and property as these are the most threatened areas. Approximately, 2000 people of Badin have already been relocated to safer areas.

The sea waves are expected to reach heights of 4 – 5 meters in the coming days. The cyclone is proceeding towards northwest, whirling at approximately 600 km south of Karachi. People in Karachi are advised to avoid visiting coastline until the danger is over.
