Bangladesh Made World Record by Beating Afghanistan by 546 Runs in Test Match

On Saturday, Bangladesh achieved its largest-ever victory in terms of runs by defeating Afghanistan by 546 runs in a test match. This victory also ranks as the third biggest win in the history of test cricket based on runs.

Bangladesh’s fast bowler, Taskin Ahmed, had an outstanding performance with career-best figures of 4-37. Afghanistan, who were set a challenging target of 662 runs, were dismissed for just 115 runs on Day 4.

Najmul Hossain played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s victory by scoring centuries in both innings, becoming the second Bangladeshi player to achieve this milestone.

Prior to this, Bangladesh’s biggest test victory was by 226 runs against Zimbabwe in 2005. The margin of victory in this match was only surpassed by England’s 675-run win over Australia in 1928 and Australia’s 562-run win over England at The Oval in 1934.

Despite the traditionally spin-friendly conditions at the ground, Bangladesh’s pace attack dominated the match. In addition to losing wickets, Afghanistan also had to deal with two batsmen being unable to continue their innings after being hit by rising deliveries, including the last batsman, Zahir Khan.
