During the ODI World Cup Qualifier 2023 match against the USA, Zimbabwe scored their highest-ever total in one-day international (ODI) cricket. They managed to reach an impressive score of 408 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Zimbabwe’s captain, Sean Williams, played an exceptional innings, scoring 174 runs off just 101 balls.
This surpasses Zimbabwe’s previous highest ODI total achieved on January 29, 2009, when they scored 351 runs for the loss of 7 wickets against Kenya in Mombasa. Sean Williams’ outstanding performance in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers 2023 has been remarkable, and his latest innings also saw him break the record for the highest strike rate by a number three batsman in men’s ODIs, previously held by former South African player Herschelle Gibbs. The match took place at Harare Sports Club.
