The federal government has announced public holidays to be observed on 28th and 29th July, 2023 on account of Ashura.
According to the notification issued by Cabinet Division, Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif announced 28th and 29th July (Friday and Saturday) as public holidays to observe 9th and 10th Muharram, 1445 AH.
Government of Sindh has also announced a ban on pillion riding on 9th and 10th Muharram to ensure that Ashura days activities continue without any hindrance.
In addition, armed forces will be deployed across the country to ensure security during the holy days of Muharram.
The beginning of the new Islamic Year 1445 AH will begin from July 20th while Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced the First of Muharram to be observed in 19th July.
