Facilities Former PM Imran Khan Will Have in Attock Jail

Life in prison is tough, but prominent prisoners like politicians and businessmen often receive special treatment and privileges not available to regular citizens.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, is the latest high-profile figure to be imprisoned. He was arrested after a trial court sentenced him to three years in jail. Khan was transferred from Lahore to Attock Jail in a heavily guarded caravan.

Attock Jail’s security has been increased due to his presence. Khan, known for his luxurious mansion in Islamabad, now has a basic cell with just a fan, bed, and a washroom. This prison was originally built by British rulers to detain people involved in mutiny and is now a high-security facility.

Other prominent figures, including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son, Hussain Nawaz, former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab, and Dr. Farooq Sattar, have also been imprisoned in Attock Jail.

Even the current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, was kept there in 1999 when he was the Chief Minister of Punjab and faced corruption charges.
