Pakistan reached an important achievement in selling its pink rock salt to other countries. They made a deal worth $20 million to bring in more foreign investment. The Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and a company from America agreed to work together, and they signed an important paper called a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to show this.
In this agreement, the leader of PMDC, Asad Ahmed, and the CEO of the American company put their signatures on the MoU. Ahmed said that pink salt has a big market all over the world and is worth about $12 billion.
Pakistan wants to take advantage of this by selling around 1.5 million tons of pink salt every year, and they want to make it well-known under Pakistan’s own brand name.
To make this happen, they will build a really modern place to crush and pack the pink salt. This special place will only focus on getting the salt ready to be sent to other countries. It will be in a special area called the Special Economic Zone in the Mianwali district.
