Asian Cricket Council Decides to Hold Asia Cup Matches in Colombo Despite Rainy Weather

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided not to change the location of the remaining matches in the Asia Cup 2023, even though there were worries about bad weather in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

At first, there were talks about moving six Super 4 matches from Colombo to Hambantota because of heavy rain in Colombo. The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf, and ACC chief Jay Shah talked about this possibility. During the talk, Shah said he would think about it.

But now, the ACC has told the PCB in an email that the last part of the Asia Cup will stay in Colombo, and the matches will go on as planned. Reports say that the PCB is really worried about this decision.

They think the tournament is being hurt by what they see as not-so-serious choices. Because of the ACC’s decision and the practical problems, the PCB has planned an emergency meeting to deal with the situation.

Last week, the big match between Pakistan and India had to be canceled because of rain. Both teams got one point each. Pakistan got into the Super 4s because of the one point they got in the match against India.
