Microsoft to Remove WordPad from Windows After 30 Years

Microsoft is going to stop working on WordPad and will eventually take it out of Windows. Instead, they’ll suggest using Microsoft Word for fancy documents and Windows Notepad for plain ones. WordPad hasn’t had big updates since Windows 8, while Notepad is getting some improvements.

This change will probably happen in the next Windows release, maybe Windows 12, which is expected in 2024 and will have some AI features.
