Pakistan Demands Compensation from Asian Cricket Council for Losing Matches in Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a significant step by officially requesting compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the financial losses incurred due to the relocation of Asia Cup matches to Sri Lanka.

Although the PCB hasn’t issued an official statement, reports have revealed that PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf has sent a formal letter to ACC President Jay Shah outlining their demand for compensation.

Ashraf expressed disappointment with the way the ACC handled match scheduling in Sri. While not naming individuals, he raised questions about the decision-making process for venue changes, emphasizing the lack of consultation with other ACC board members.

The letter references a meeting involving ACC members from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, which apparently led to the decision to move matches to Hambantota due to favorable weather forecasts. The PCB claims that the ACC confirmed this decision via email and was preparing to make an official announcement.

This situation underscores the importance of transparent decision-making in international cricket and highlights the financial consequences that cricket boards can face due to last-minute changes. The PCB’s request for compensation reflects its commitment to safeguarding its interests and finances in the realm of international cricket.
