Due to a rising outbreak of conjunctivitis, the interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Raza Naqvi, has declared the closure of all schools in Punjab, including Lahore, for tomorrow, September 28.
This proactive step is taken to prevent the further spread of the highly contagious eye infection among students.
Additionally, students up to matriculation classes will undergo screening at school entrances starting Monday. Those displaying symptoms of the infection will be advised to seek immediate medical attention and will not be permitted to enter the school premises until they are no longer contagious.
Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is an infectious eye condition causing redness, itching, and eye discharge. It can easily spread through direct or indirect contact, making schools a high-risk environment for transmission. The school closure will affect all students up to matriculation classes.
During this period, schools will undergo thorough cleaning and sanitization to reduce the risk of transmission.
