GM’s New ‘Chevy Silverado’ EV Makes First International Debut At World’s Largest Import Show in China

General Motors (GM) has introduced the Chevy Silverado EV, an electric pickup, in China. This is GM’s first step into foreign markets and was unveiled at a big trade fair in China.

GM is expanding its well-known brands in China through The Durant Guild, a premium import business created last year. The Silverado EV showcased at the expo can go up to 450 miles on a single charge, has 754 horsepower, and can tow 10,000 pounds.

In the U.S., the work truck edition of the Silverado EV is already available, but the launch of the RST First Edition and two other models is delayed. GM CEO Mary Barra said the delay is to make sure they are successful.

Even with the delay, the Silverado EV gained attention in China, showing GM’s efforts to be part of the growing electric vehicle market there.
