A New Automated System Launched By PTA to Block Snatched or Stolen Smartphones

A new automated system has been set into motion by the Pakistan telecommunication authority, also known as PTA, which blocks smartphones that are ‘snatched, stolen and lost mobile phones.”

In this system, the user sends an application through the Lost and Stolen device system (LSDS) through which the IMEI (international mobile equipment identity) number of the mobile is blocked within 24 hours of applying “after necessary verification is done “, as said by PTA.

PTA tweeted, “upon successful registration of a blocking request, the complainant will receive a complaint reference number,” Blocking of IMEIs application must be submitted so that there is no potential exploitation of the data and the mobile phone.

In case the phone has been found, the users should use the same process to unblock the phone, “at the registration of complaint, all mandatory details and the complaint reference number that they gave for blocking the mobile phone should be mentioned” by users.

“Once the mobile phone is unblocked, the user will receive an SMS on the registered number,” it stated.
