At the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2021, Momin Saqib, a well-known former Pakistani student was named a Commonwealth Youth COVID-19 Hero. The Awards honor young people who are actively engaged in making a positive difference and are critical to the development of a more innovative and integrated future.
The Commonwealth Youth Awards, now in their 2021 iteration, have recognized ten outstanding young people who have gone above and beyond to help communities and be a bright light amid the challenges faced by the global pandemic.
Momin Saqib has been named a Commonwealth Youth COVID-19 Hero for the charitable initiative “One Million Meals,” which he co-founded with British Pakistani restaurateur and award-winning chef Raja Suleman Raza, Arif Malik, and a team of volunteers in March 2020.
Momin made history when he became the first non-EU President of the King’s College London Students’ Union in 144 years, receiving an Honorary Life Membership and a permanent plaque at the famous Bush House.
“Congratulations to Momin Saqib, former KCLSU President and King’s staff, on being named a Commonwealth Youth Covid-19 Hero at the 2020 Commonwealth Youth Awards for co-founding One Million Meals,” King’s College London wrote on Twitter.
