According to sources, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy, Hammad Azhar, stated that the country was working toward electrification of public transit as a result of the federal government’s December approval of an electric vehicle policy.
“BYD, the world’s largest electric bus manufacturer, has partnered with the Sapphire group to explore market development and manufacturing of electric vehicles in Pakistan,” Hammad Azhar tweeted.
Pakistan’s first Electric Vehicle Policy was approved by the federal cabinet on December 22.
Electricity would be used to power motorbikes and automobiles, and Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Units would be developed around the country.
