Ansooo Lake, Pakistan’s Tear-Shaped Jewel, One of the Highest Himalayan Lakes at 4,245 Above Sea Level

Ansu Lake, also known as the Lake of Tears, is a captivating lake in the beautiful Kagan Valley, located in the Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.

Sitting at a breathtaking altitude of 4,245 meters (13,927 feet), this enchanting water body is famous for being one of the highest lakes in the majestic Himalayas. Its proximity to Malika Parbat, the highest peak in the Kagan Valley, adds to its charm.

The name “Ansu” comes from the Urdu word for “tears,” which perfectly describes the lake’s unique teardrop shape. According to legend, a Pakistan Air Force pilot discovered this stunning lake in 1993 while flying at a relatively low altitude over the region.
