Anwaar-ul-Haq, a former senator and prominent figure of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), has officially assumed the role of the eighth caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Aiwan-e-Sadar, where President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Kakar. Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his farewell address, stated his confidence in the caretaker Prime Minister to conduct fair and free elections.
Several notable personalities attended the ceremony including Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, and various other high-ranking officials.
As Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar assumes leadership of a nation grappling with prolonged periods of political and economic turbulence, his initial responsibility is to form a cabinet that will govern the country during an impending election phase that might extend for several months.
He was also presented with a ‘Guard of honor’ after the oath-taking ceremony, at the PM Office.
