Australia’s University Announces Fully Funded Scholarships for Bachelor, Master’s, and PhD Programs

The University of Melbourne is offering fully funded scholarships for outstanding students from around the world and within Australia. These scholarships are designed to support those enrolling in graduate research programs, including Master’s by Research and doctoral (PhD) degrees, at one of Australia’s leading universities.

Scholarship Details:

Two main scholarships are available: the Melbourne Research Scholarship and the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship. These scholarships offer a wide range of benefits aimed at reducing the financial burden on students.

Financial Support and Fee Waivers:

  • Students pursuing a Master’s by Research degree can receive a full fee waiver for up to two years, while doctoral students may receive the waiver for up to four years. –
  • A generous living allowance of $37,000 per year is provided, with the possibility of annual adjustments. This allowance supports Master’s students for up to two years and PhD students for up to 3.5 years. It also includes provisions for paid sick leave, maternity leave, and parenting leave.
  • Relocation grants are available to assist students moving to Melbourne. Those relocating from other Australian states can receive $2,000, while international students can receive $3,000.
  • International students requiring a visa will also receive Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership to cover their health insurance needs during their studies.

Fee-Only Scholarships:

  • Full fee waivers are also available for students who are not eligible for the stipend, covering up to two years for Master’s by Research students and up to four years for PhD students.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for these scholarships, candidates must either be applying for a graduate research program at the University of Melbourne or already be enrolled in one. All domestic students admitted to eligible programs will automatically receive the Research Training Program Scholarship (Fee Offset).Selection CriteriaScholarships that include both a stipend and fee waiver are awarded based on academic excellence. Applicants are evaluated on their most recent academic performance and their potential for research in their chosen field. Additional factors such as prior research experience, published works, and professional achievements may also be considered.Application ProcessFor new applicants, no separate scholarship application is necessary. Once a student applies for a graduate research program, they will automatically be considered for the scholarship, with a notification sent within ten business days.Current students or those who have deferred their studies must submit an online application by October 31 to be considered for the following year. They will also receive confirmation within ten business days after submitting their application.Domestic students will be notified about their Research Training Program Scholarship (Fee Offset) along with their course offer.
