Average Woman Over Packs Her Suitcase About Double, They Need an Average of 34 Clothing Items for a Week Trip, But Will Pack 60, “Just in Case”, Study

A study has discovered that female travelers tend to overpack their suitcases by nearly twice the amount.

On average, women pack 60 items of clothing for a week-long trip, while they only need around 34. They do this out of the fear of not having enough options and end up not using almost half of the items they bring.

The survey, conducted by a travel insurance website with 2,000 women participants, revealed that 77% of women admit to packing extra items just in case they can’t decide what to wear while on vacation.

As a result, it’s not surprising that 65% of women find it difficult to close their suitcases once they’ve made their packing decisions. Furthermore, 58% find it nearly impossible to stay within the weight limit imposed by airlines.

The survey also showed that 72% of women always overpack, and one-fifth of them have had to pay additional baggage fees. Interestingly, 42% of women still plan to shop for clothes during their trip.

On average, women pack 19 tops for their holiday but end up wearing only ten. Similarly, they pack 16 bottoms (trousers, shorts, leggings) but end up wearing only eight.
