legendary Pakistani batsman Babar Azam equaled former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s record of 41 victories in T20I matches, In the first T20I of the five-match series, played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday (April 14). Babar played in Pakistan’s 100th T20 international game on Friday. He captained 67 games, winning 41 of them.
Dhoni has led India in 72 T20 international games, winning 41 of them. Babar, on the other hand, has played five less games than him to match his total. In the shortest version of the game at the international level, Babar holds the No. 2 spot among the captains with the most victories.
“I wasn’t expecting this (my 100th T20I game), grateful that I have achieved this feat. It was a team effort. We lost early wickets, but Fakhar and Ayub built the innings. Saim has been improving day by day, wish him good luck. I think our batters set up a good total on this wicket. We had a good bowling line-up, Rauf bowled well and so did the other bowlers. It’s good when you have many options. It was a collective effort as all the bowlers stuck to their plans,” Babar stated during the post-game presentation.
