Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi Defended Lowest Total ever in Karachi Against Karachi Kings

Peshawar Zalmi won a thrilling match against Karachi Kings by just 2 runs in Match 29 of the Pakistan Super League 2024 at the National Stadium, Karachi on Monday. With this win, they took the top position on the points table.

Peshawar Zalmi’s opening duo of Babar Azam and Saim Ayub put up a delightful batting display after winning the toss and electing to bat first. They brought up 54 runs in the powerplay.

Babar Azam scored his fifth HBL PSL half-century but failed to make his ground while attempting a second run and had to return for 51 off 46 balls. In the end, Zalmi could only manage 147-6 in 20 overs.

Karachi Kings started their pursuit of the 148-run target well, but lost wickets at regular intervals. With 35 required off the last three overs, Zalmi’s Naveen bowled Shoaib in the 17th over, who scored 22 off 25 balls. The Kings needed 13 runs off the last over, but Aamir Jamal gave away only 12 runs, as Zalmi won the game by two runs.

This victory also earned Zalmi the record of the lowest total successfully defended in HBL PSL history. Overall, it was a thrilling match that kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
