Bangladesh Open to Join Defense Pact with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, Bangladesh PM’s Advisor

Bangladesh has signalled a positive and potentially open stance toward joining a proposed economic or defence framework involving Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, indicating growing interest in strengthening cooperation with regional partners.

Bangladesh’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said Dhaka would carefully consider any such arrangement while taking into account its national interests, evolving global economic conditions and changing trade dynamics.

His remarks suggest that Bangladesh is keeping the possibility open as regional alliances and economic partnerships continue to develop.

Kabir also highlighted Bangladesh’s efforts to strengthen practical bilateral relations with Pakistan, particularly through increased trade, stronger economic engagement and greater people-to-people connectivity. The two countries have shown renewed interest in expanding cooperation across multiple areas as bilateral ties gradually gain momentum.

Meanwhile, Bangladeshi media reports indicate that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia soon after receiving an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince.

The visit could provide another opportunity for discussions on regional cooperation, economic relations and broader strategic partnerships.

The developments come amid shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics in South Asia and the wider Muslim world, with countries increasingly exploring new avenues for trade, investment, defence cooperation and diplomatic engagement.
