Pakistan Army to Assist Rawalpindi Administration for Six Months

The federal government has approved the deployment of three companies of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi for a period of six months to carry out sensitive security duties across the district.

The Interior Ministry issued the deployment order on August 21 under Article 245 of the Constitution, following a formal request from the Punjab Home Department.

The decision comes as part of enhanced security measures aimed at maintaining law and order and preventing any potential untoward incidents.

According to the order, the deployed troops will assist the district administration in dealing with sensitive security situations, preventing undesirable incidents and responding promptly to any unforeseen threats or emergencies.

The deployment has taken effect immediately and will remain in place for six months. Under Article 245, the armed forces can be called upon to assist civil authorities when required to maintain security and support the administration during challenging situations.
