Beware Pakistanis! Heatwave Warning Issued as Temperature to Hit 51°C

Over the next 10 days, most parts of the country are expected to experience a long and intense heatwave. The regions of Sindh and Punjab are predicted to suffer the most, with extremely high temperatures. During this period, temperatures in the plains of Sindh and Punjab could increase by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, potentially reaching record highs between 49°C and 51°C.

In contrast, areas like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the surrounding regions are likely to see slightly lower temperatures, ranging from 40°C to 43°C. While still very hot, these temperatures are not as extreme as those expected in Sindh and Punjab. Karachi, the coastal city, is anticipated to have relatively milder weather. Most days in Karachi will see temperatures between 36°C and 39°C, although on some particularly hot days, the temperature could rise to 40°C.

The meteorological agency has reassured that despite the ongoing heatwave, Karachi will not be as severely affected as other regions. The agency also mentioned that the heatwave is expected to lessen by the first week of June, providing some much-needed relief from the high temperatures.
