In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, it has been observed recently that unknown people wearing fake Bykea helmets have been congregating around bus stops and markets pretending to be Bykea driver-partners, street-hailing, and putting people’s safety at risk. These individuals are banned by Bykea or are not registered with the platform at all. They are noticed hailing people on the side of the road by charging unjustifiable fares for services that are not recorded by any system.
This also tarnishes Bykea’s reputation – a reliable homegrown ride-hailing and logistics solution for commuting needs. Bykea makes every effort to ensure customers’ safety by vetting drivers and monitoring every trip in real time.
At Bykea, customers’ safety is of the highest priority. Bykea has taken notice of such fraudulent individuals and engaged the city government and local police to verify drivers. Only registered and active drivers on the Bykea App and who take rides through the Bykea App can be considered legitimate Bykea driver-partners. The police are requested to take rightful disciplinary actions against drivers engaged in endangering the people in any way.
Bykea has also released a Public Safety Message with one of the top newspapers (ISL/RWP Station) on 1st June to create awareness of this dangerous street-hailing phenomenon where unknown individuals are providing ride-hailing services with no oversight and accountability.
Bykea has also made a plea to the general public to encourage them to only avail Bykea services through the Bykea App where Bykea ensures customers’ safety. Rides that are booked through the Bykea App are:
- Safe because they can be tracked
- With licensed drivers
- Charge a fair and justifiable fare
- Provide insurance or Takaful protection (opt-in required) in case of emergencies or accidents on the road
Along with road safety and passenger safety, Bykea trains its driver-partners for civic sense, community sensitization, and ethical conduct.
