Cameras Not Allowed Inside Makkah & Madinah Mosques For Hajj 2026

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have introduced a new rule for Hajj 2026, placing a complete ban on taking photos and videos inside the two holiest mosques in Islam. The restriction applies to both Masjid al-Haram and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.

Under the new policy, pilgrims will not be allowed to use mobile phones, cameras, GoPros, or any other recording devices within the mosque buildings or in the surrounding courtyards.

Officials have clarified that this rule is designed to protect the spiritual atmosphere of these sacred places.

According to authorities, the main goal of the ban is to ensure a peaceful and focused environment for worship. Large crowds often gather during Hajj, and taking photos or videos can create distractions and cause congestion, especially when people stop to take selfies.

Officials also emphasized that respecting the sanctity of the holy sites is a top priority. They believe that limiting the use of recording devices will help pilgrims concentrate more on their عبادت and personal reflection.

Strict enforcement measures will be in place. Authorities have warned that anyone found violating the rules may face consequences, including confiscation of their devices and possible legal action.

Pilgrims have been advised to follow the guidelines and show consideration for others. The new rule aims to improve the overall experience of Hajj by promoting respect, discipline, and a deeper focus on spirituality during the pilgrimage.
