CDA to Start Testing Metro Bus from Peshawar Morr to Islamabad Airport in Mid-April.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will test a metro bus service between Peshawar Mor and New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) in mid-April.

According to the plan, 24 buses would travel from Peshawar Mor to the N5 bus station on GT Road, and six buses with additional luggage storage will run continuously from N5 to the airport.

CDA has bought 30 vehicles from a Chinese bus manufacturer, half of which will be sent to Pakistan while the remaining are in the final stages of production.

Because of Chinese COVID-19 regulations, the National Highway Authority (NHA) will perform pre-shipment inspections of available buses through third parties to avoid further delays.

Due to the delayed installation of the automated systems, the orange, 12-meter-long buses are expected to arrive in Pakistan in the middle of April, after which the CDA will road test them using manual ticketing.

In January 2017, NHA began work on the Rs. 16 billion project for the 25.6-kilometer route from Peshawar Mor to Islamabad International Airport. The project’s civil construction was supposed to be completed in August 2018, but it was completed earlier this year. The corridors and stations of the metro track have already been erected, and the command and control, station administration, cleaning, security, and ticketing systems must now be completed.
