Xpeng, a Chinese electric-vehicle startup, unveiled a flying automobile over the weekend, which it claims will be mass-produced by 2024.
The Xpeng X2 vehicle is being created by HT Aero, a flying car firm that just raised more than $500 million in its latest fundraising round.
According to TechCrunch, the low-altitude flying automobile includes a steering wheel for road driving and a single lever for flight modes.
Xpeng promotes the flying automobile as a mode of transportation in urban areas, such as from the airport to the office. The vehicle can fly for up to 35 minutes at a time.
The X2 has rotors that can be folded away when the automobile is on the road and enlarged when the vehicle is flying, according to an Xpeng website article. It has a seating capacity of two persons.
