Chinese Textile Company to Train and Hire 2000 Pakistani Employers

A Chinese textile company has signed an agreement with the government of Gilgit-Baltistan to train 2,000 employees and employ them in its Lahore factory. The agreement was signed by Karen Chen, the Managing Director of a Chinese firm, and a representative of the Gilgit-Baltistan government. Qamar Bobi, a businessman who was instrumental in attracting Chinese investment to Pakistan, was also in attendance.

Karen Chen, speaking on the occasion, said that under the agreement, 2,000 workers from Gilgit-Baltistan would be selected and trained before being placed in textile establishments in Lahore, where they would be provided with free housing and food. Karen said that the textile plant employs 3000 employees.

Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid thanked the Chinese company for creating job opportunities in the area.
