After the accused in the Rizwana torture case had their bail application rejected, the wife of the civil judge was arrested. This happened after a court proceeding presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Farukh Farid. Somia Asim, the accused, appeared in court with her legal representatives, and the judge asked for details about the case.
According to Somia Asim’s lawyer, she had cooperated with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and claimed her innocence. Police records also showed no involvement in any violent actions.
The lawyer explained that Somia Asim had been concerned for a young girl waiting at a bus stop for over two hours and helped her return to her mother.
The accused’s lawyer mentioned the availability of a three-hour video showing the minor girl at the bus stop and requested the court to obtain it as evidence. The court instructed the investigating officer to secure the video for examination.
